Groups and Periods in Periodic Table

A Group shows how many electrons there are in the outermost shell.
A Period shows which energy levels (shells) are being occupied by electrons.
Some groups have special names.
Group 1 = Alkali Metals; Group 7= Halogens and Group 0 = Noble Gases
